WeSpeak for July 2023

We are excited to announce our two incredible guests for this month’s show. First, we have Joshua Loya, a remarkable blind surfer from the western region. Joshua will share his inspiring story and experiences. Our second guest is Daniel Seth Lubiner, representing the Touch Pad Pro Foundation. Daniel will introduce us to the fascinating world of the BrailleDoodle, a groundbreaking braille-enabled device that combines learning and creativity.

Adding to the excitement, Will is on location with Daniel in Houston, Texas, following the NFB convention. They will be exploring the unlimited possibilities of Braille and Art with the BrailleDoodle. This innovative device provides an affordable solution for Braille learning and tactile experiences in Science, Math, and Art.

The BrailleDoodle features a doodle side with hundreds of holes, each containing a smooth metal ball that can be brought to the surface using a magnetic stylus. Erasing is as simple as pushing the balls back down. On the braille side, users can practice and learn Braille with examples, practice spaces for every letter, symbols, and sight words. It also offers lines of 20 braille cells for practicing words and sentences, ensuring a comprehensive learning process.

Additionally, the BrailleDoodle comes with specialized covers and stencils that allow students to explore Math braille, contractions, shapes, print letters, graphs, art, and various braille variations. Our mission is to promote Braille literacy and tactile learning while making the BrailleDoodle accessible to all children. We aim to distribute thousands of free BrailleDoodles to blind children who may not have the means to afford them.
